Hello everyone!
Most of the rooms in our homes are abuzz with activity. There is just one home area meant to calm and comfort us: the bedroom. Creating a more relaxing bedroom can be a great way to improve our mental health and create a cosy space in our home where we can escape from the world.
Here are some tips to make your bedroom feel more relaxing:
1. Tidy and clean
First, you should make sure your bedroom is clean and decluttered. A tidy room is better both hygienically and aesthetically speaking. It is also a less stressful environment.
2. Good mattress
Your mattress makes the difference between a good night of sleep and an unrestful one. Invest in a good one and always choose the best you can afford.
3. Light or neutral colours
When choosing colours for your bedroom, it's important to use light or neutral colours. This will help to create a calming and relaxing atmosphere. When choosing the palette for your bedroom, the best choices are shades of green and blue, followed by grey, beige and white.
4. Soft lights
To create a calm atmosphere, avoid using bright, white artificial lights - reminiscent of an operating room. Instead, consider dimming the lights. You can also use fairy lights or candles. This will help you feel calmer and at ease in the space.
5. No electronics
Make it a point to turn off electronic devices at least an hour before bedtime or keep them out of the room; an e-reader is the only exception.
6. Bedside table essentials
Make sure you have everything you'll need before bed and throughout the night within reach. Things like a noise machine, water, an eye mask, lip balm, etc.
7. Heavenly scents
Aromatherapy is a great way to create a soothing and relaxing scent in your bedroom. Create a spa-like, peaceful environment using essential oils, diffusers, incenses, or scented candles. Some popular scents include tangerine, lavender, sandalwood, frankincense, ylang ylang and jasmine.
8. Nature elements
One of the best ways to relax is by including natural elements in your bedroom. You can add stones, seashells, crystals, plants and flowers. Or you could hang pictures or paintings of natural scenes such as forests, mountains, lakes and beaches.

Great advice. Our bedroom is coming along and is my safe space. We play video games etc in there so it's not your 'typical' relaxing bedroom but it works for us.
