Christmas movies that remind me of my childhood

Hello everyone!

It's already December; many start watching Christmas movies this time of the year. Christmas movies help us get in the spirit of the season and are generally well-loved.

Many people watch certain holiday movies each year. Some because they are classics, and some because they have an element of nostalgia. To put it simply, they remind us of our childhood Christmases!

For me, the Christmas season begins at the beginning of December. Personally, I think that November is way too early for Christmas. Besides, in Malta November, is known as "the month of the dead"!

I will start decorating soon and will also watch my favourite Christmas movies. I watch many TV Christmas movies each year, but most of them are just romantic comedies. The movies I included in this post are different because they remind me of my childhood.

A Christmas Carol (1984)

A Christmas Carol is a British-American film adaptation of Charles Dickens' famous 1843 novella of the same name. The film closely follows the structure of the original book. I also read the novella every year! Dickens is one of my favourite authors.

Home Alone (1990)

Home Alone is an iconic 90's Christmas movie that needs no introduction. Eight-year-old Kevin is accidentally left behind when his family leaves for Paris. At first, he is happy to be alone, but when two burglars try to break into his home, he puts up an epic fight.

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)

One year after Kevin was left home alone and had to defeat a pair of burglars, he accidentally finds himself lost in New York City. He then bumps into the same burglars, who plan to rob a toy store.

The Santa Clause (1994)

When Scott Calvin accidentally kills Santa on Christmas Eve, he finds himself magically recruited to take his place! Now, he has to deal with a suspicious former wife while trying to keep his secret safe.

Miracle on 34th Street (1994)

This classic tale centres around a department store Kris Kringle who spreads the joy of Christmas by making a little girl believe in Santa Claus.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

This is the live-action adaptation of the beloved children's tale by Dr Seuss. The Grinch goes on a mission to steal Christmas, only to have his heart changed by Cindy-Lou's generous holiday spirit.

My father always loved Disney, so naturally, my brother and I grew up watching Disney movies. We had a huge collection of VHS tapes!

These are two of the tapes we watched every holiday season as children:

Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983)

The classic Disney animated characters play the roles in this animated retelling of the Charles Dickens masterpiece.

Disney's Sing-Along Songs: Very Merry Christmas Songs (1988)

I vividly remember singing along to these Christmas carols as a child with my family.

Certain movies make it feel like Christmas, don’t they? Are there any movies that make you feel like a child again?

  1. I must have watched Home Alone 100 times when I was young. Thanks for bringing back these good memories from when I was a kid! =)
