Hello everyone!
As you know, I strongly believe in
using natural ingredients for DIY hair and skincare recipes. Today’s post is about  basil; a perfect active ingredient for acne prone skin.
Basil is known for its soothing
and toning properties, and can calm down blemishes and irritated skin.
Ingredients:
- Fresh basil leaves
- Boiling water
 Method 1: Toner
- Steep a handful of basil leaves in a cup of boiling water for 10 to 20 minutes.
- Remove leaves, cool the basil tea.
- Apply toner to your problem areas with a cotton ball.
- Keep the toner refrigerated and discard once it becomes cloudy.
Method 2:Â Facial steaming
- Steam your face over a bowl of hot water combined with a small handful of basil leaves, for about 10 minutes. Â
- If your skin is very oily, squeeze half a lemon/lime into it. Â
- Follow up with a face mask or splash cold water/toner on your face, or gently rub an ice cube wrapped in a towel over your face to close the pores.
Treating
acne with basil is not for everyone. Â The
herb may occasionally cause allergic reactions (skin rashes) when applied
topically. Always  patch test  before using basil on
your face.Â
- Dab a small amount of "basil tea" on the pulse of your wrist or the crook of your elbow.
- Leave it unwashed for a period of 24- 48 hours.
- Watch for signs of an allergic reaction. (redness or rash)
XOXO
